Our CEO Ivan Pepelov had the opportunity to visit Identity Week in Amsterdam. This was a very interesting experience, since business wise, IDVKM is newby in the Netherlands, and this was also an interesting chance to explore the Dutch market.
The venue was a huge fair hall in Amsterdam RAI fair center.
The first day, Ivan experienced a little shock since in this case the word Identity was used in a much broader way as he is used to. He saw a sea of interesting devices – lasers, passport printing devices, biometry scanners, etc. Also, the presentations were a lot about biometry, border control and so on. The physical identity was at the center. While interesting and nice to see, this is not exactly what IDVKM is doing business wise. The other IAM community members felt likewise – the sheer fact that from over 300 stands, only 6-7 were dedicated to IAM (subjective feeling) spoke for itself. However, the second day was totally different, with a substantially larger focus on IAM, especially on presentation level.
For Ivan personally two presentations stood out.
Micha de Gier from ING presented how they implemented IGA in their enterprise. What was really impressive was the stakeholder involvement which ultimately led to the standardization of the IGA implementation. Since ING is a global enterprise, it is not so easy to convince every local branch to follow the same strategy.
The second one was the presentation from Krish Mummadi from Odido. What stood out there were the technical deep dive he gave into different topics together with the readiness to solve every challenge alone, even without the help of the vendor.
Last but not least, what is a foreign city visit without going to the local IdentiBeer Chapter. Ivan was really glad to meet the people from Amsterdam and he thanks to Andre Koot for organizing it!
All in all, the Identity Week was a very nice first step of the Dutch market. We hope that another one will follow soon 😊
