It was again this time of the year – the European Identity Conference 2025. A good opportunity to meet old friends, get to know new acquaintances and see what the latest trends in the Identity Management world are.
But first there was another event which was also really nice and was a decent prelude to the EIC itself – the global IdentiBeer. I had the chance to network with the organizators from all over the world, see what ideas went well and what we could improve. All this of course, while drinking beer 😊
A great first night in Berlin!
The next day was the first day of the conference. My personal highlight was the Identity Fabric Presentation of KuppingerCole. As we also have our methods in the maturity assessments it was interesting to see how a global analyst company categorizes the pillars in all disciplines of Identity Management and what inputs and impulses we can take for ourselves.
After that the usual division into streams began. That made a tough choice since five streams were running in parallel and during the day you miss 80 percent of the content for sure (and that without counting the meetings).
Here my personal highlights were the presentations about non human identities.
Especially, with the current AI and cloud trends, the sheer number of Non Human identities is going to explode exponentially. This paves the way for a lot of security incidents, if the NHIs are not managed properly. Every enterprise must thus make its own strategy. In the afternoon a second highlight for us was on stage for various presentations – the migration of SAP Identity Manager to newer solutions. For us it was a good opportunity to validate our approach.
On the third day I was jumping between security topics and our core business – enterprise Identity Management. There were some interesting customer use cases which definitely gave us a food for thought.
The last day, I was personally in a hurry. But of course, as the dessert comes as last, Martin Kuppinger in his closing keynote revealed once more which are the hot topics and trends, which are going to be part of our IDM future.
I am quite confident that there are going to be a lot of presentations about them and also a lot of research going on.
